SFAA Contracting has partnered with Harns Technologies to deliver custom software and operational dashboards alongside our instrumentation and control work.
The reason is the gap that keeps appearing at the end of a control package. We install the field instruments, build the panels, program the PLCs and commission the SCADA. The client then wants the plant data somewhere a manager can read it, and that is a software project, not a controls project.
Until now that meant a second procurement, a second contract and an interface between two suppliers who had never met. Interfaces are where projects fail, which is the same reason we keep civil, mechanical, electrical and control work inside one company.
How it is contracted
Contracts are held by SFAA. You deal with one party, and the accountability does not move when the scope crosses from the panel into the application.
| Scope | Delivered by |
|---|---|
| Field instrumentation, panels, PLC controls | SFAA |
| SCADA and HMI, smart factory integration | SFAA with Harns |
| Custom web applications and dashboards | Harns |
We state that split before a contract is signed rather than after, because a client is entitled to know who is doing which part of the work.
